Decades of Experience, Nationwide Reach
Since 1970, Building Inspection Service (BISCO) has been at the cutting edge of developing training and technical materials for the inspection industry in the United States. BISCO's current CEO helped found the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and helped develop the original standards of practice and testing materials for building inspectors across the country.
BISCO is the first inspection company in the country to do lead-based paint testing with x-ray fluorescent analyzers for the inspection industry and private individuals. In fact, BISCO's CEO did the first testing of HUD housing for the lead-based paint hazard and testified before congressional committees in support of passing legislation to ban lead-based paint. BISCO was one of the original members of the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) and BISCO's CEO was president of its largest chapter that had over 200 members.
In the 1990s, BISCO's CEO worked with HUD to develop inspections of public housing and FHA-insured multi-family housing using hand-held computers. BISCO did many of the initial proof of concept inspections that led to the creation of REAC. BISCO is one of three national contractors that did almost all REAC inspections nationwide between 2000 and the present day. BISCO has over 85 HUD-certified and USDA-certified and approved contract inspectors who are currently doing HUD REAC and USDA and FEMA inspections. BISCO's CEO and other BISCO staff were certified by HUD, USDA, and FEMA to provide multi-family inspections nationwide. To this very day, inspectors wishing to do inspections for HUD, USDA, and FEMA seek out BISCO to provide the required training and expertise.
Training
BISCO's government- certified trainers teach approved inspection practices for HUD, USDA, FEMA and other government inspection agencies. In addition, our CEO is a certified HUD inspector trainer-and has trained inspectors for HUD, USDA, and FEMA inspections of Multifamily properties, as well as for inspections of Mobile Homes, Modular housing and single-family housing.

BISCO employs a vendor management system that is integrated with most LOS and OMS.
